This past week, we celebrated our anniversary dinner at Ocean Prime in Orlando. We had been given a tip to check out the menu for Magical Dining Month which is going on now until October 2nd. For Magical Dining Month, 90 restaurants in Orlando are offering prix-fixe menus of an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $33. You can see a full list of participating restaurants here. $1 from each meal goes to the charity of the year…more on that in a bit. Glancing at the menu, I could tell this was a steal. Take a look below and you can see why you should run, not walk to all participating locations.

The best part of Magical Dining Month is the charity that receives the portion of the proceeds. This year’s choice was “The Russell Home for Atypical Children.” I wanted to find out more when I got home and WOW what a phenomenal organization. The Russell Home is a private, non-profit home that serves severely brain damaged children. Some stay long term and some children visit while their caretakers get a bit of relief. The woman who started this, Vantherese “Grandma” Russell, started the home in 1949 as a way to help out a local family.
Even though she had 7 children of her own, Grandma Russell spent her lifetime caring for those that others could not care for. What an absolute selfless woman and an inspiration to all of us! If you’ve been looking for a reason to head out for a quick bit to eat, or if you’re not sure what restaurant to visit this month, make it one a Magical Dining restaurant! You will not be disappointed!
