This past weekend, D23, Disney’s Official Fan Club, held its Expo in Anaheim and the announcements were out of control exciting! With the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World taking place in 2021, Disney is in full swing of exciting updates and changes. For those looking to take a trip to Disney, I am always available to help you begin your family’s dream vacation! First up are the soon to happen changes:
Looming large like a rebel fleet appearing out of hyperspace is the opening of Star War’s Galaxy’s Edge. Opening on August 29th, this land, located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will feature two rides – Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Disney’s most immersive land will also feature Savi’s Workshop where you can create incredible custom lightsabers and Oga’s Cantina lounge where you can sample drinks such as the Jedi Mind Trick. Stay tuned for more details!
In addition to that, the following are currently in progress: the Disney Skyliner, the new Riviera Resort, Tron LightCycle Power Run Coaster, as well as the just opened Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs, new Japanese steakhouse Takumi-Tei, and the NBA Experience at Disney Springs.
Details were revealed at the D23 Expo about these all new items coming to Disney:
In the Epcot World Showcase, we will see the first attraction inspired by Mary Poppins in Cherry Tree Lane, which will join the United Kingdom pavilion as an entirely new neighborhood! Can we request a Mary Poppins flyover similar to Tinkerbell at Cinderella’s Castle?
At the World Discovery neighborhood in Epcot, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will feature the first reverse launch into space! This has been under construction for some time and it looks HUGE!
Coming in late 2020, Disney Genie will be a new digital offering to enhance the way guests plan for and experience a trip to Walt Disney World Resort. Disney Genie will make planning easier and more fun by providing guests customized itineraries. I am all for technological upgrades – thank you magical enhancements!
Also coming to Epcot is Journey of Water, inspired by Moana. This experience will allow guests to interact with magical, living water in ways that have never been seen before!
For my Star Wars fans, D23 premiered information about the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Guests will board for a 2 night cruise through the Star Wars universe where you are able to interact and take part of the Star Wars story like never before! Day stops available at Batuu for those looking to explore more.
Currently under construction is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in Epcot at the France pavilion. I know that Epcot gets noted as one of the more adult friendly parks so I am glad to see an option being added for kids as well!
PLUS there was the announcement of Disney’s newest cruise ship WISH, new nighttime spectaculars at Epcot, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opening at Hollywood Studios, Reflections: A Lakeside Lodge currently under construction, updates on the films shown in China and Canada as well as the Spaceship Earth ride all in Epcot, and a new “Beauty and the Beast Sing-A-Long” opening in January 2020 at Epcot.
As you can see, now more than ever Disney is working to create the most magical vacation destination ever! It’s going to be practically perfect in every way!
